EDWIN KUSI – APPIAH
Summary
Mr. Edwin Kusi-Appiah is the Managing Partner of the Firm and heads the Finance, Maritime, Family, Real Estate and Litigation Groups. With his long standing experience as a lawyer, Mr. Edwin Kusi-Appiah has handled complex matters and has led the firm in providing solutions tailored to meet complex issues pertaining to the maritime and other industries in Ghana. He has played a good role and the teeming cases he has participated in the courts have helped to resolve some of the unsettled matters in many areas of law.
He has amassed comprehensive expertise in the area of corporate law by serving as board secretary to a number of local and multi-national companies. He has brokered several business transactions between companies and some countries in Africa. He has led the charge to recover monies that are due to the companies.
On Family and Criminal Law, Mr. Edwin Kusi-Appiah has led cases that have been widely publicized in the Ghanaian media because of the parties involved and public interest generated in them.

Michael Akowuah, Since he was called to the Bar in the year 2010, Lawyer Michael has bagged substantial knowledge in the fields of admiralty, Natural Resource, environment Law and Corporate Law. Michael has had the opportunity to be invited by lecturers in the various law schools to share his knowledge and provide hands on approach to students studying Law. Michael is indeed a point to the success of the Firm.

VERA BEDIAKO (BL, LLB, BA)
Vera Bediako is a lawyer and has 10+ years of experience in various legal and compliance roles. She has experience in the energy industry in Ghana specifically regulatory compliance, corporate governance, contract and commercial practice and labour law.
Vera has experiential knowledge in handling complex commercial contracts and the conduct of due diligence both within the domestic and international sphere. She has served as board secretary and company secretary for diverse clients in the power, logistics and food sectors respectively.
She is passionate about guiding clients through complex regulatory landscapes whilst minimizing risk.

GEORGE BAFFOUR ASARE-AFRIYIE (LLM, BL, LLB, BA)
George Baffour Asare-Afriyie is a Partner at KUSI-APPIAH & ASSOCIATES, a one-stop law firm based in Tema-Ghana. His areas of practice are property law, maritime law, corporate law and immigration law
He holds an LLM degree in Maritime Law from Tulane Law School, a Professional Qualifying Certificate to practice law in Ghana, from the Ghana School of Law, BA and LLB degree from the University of Ghana and a Certificate in Negotiations from Harvard Negotiation Institute, Harvard Law School. George also holds a Certificate in Maritime Administration from the World Maritime University, Malmo-Sweden and a certificate in Legislative Drafting from the International Law Institute, African Centre of Legal Excellence – Uganda. He holds a Diploma in Senior Port Management, Galilee International Management Institute, Israel. He is a member of the Ghana Bar Association and the International Bar Association.
He is a Lecturer at GIMPA Faculty of Law, Accra-Ghana. Until March,2024, he was a Senior Legal Officer, Ghana Maritime Authority. He is a visiting lecturer of the Law of Marine Environment, Masters of Law program (LLM) University of Ghana, School of Law, Legon. On 9th September,2023, George was the guest speaker at the Centre of African Center, University of Florida where he spoke on the ECOWAS COURT OF JUSTICE. In March,2022,George was the international maritime law expert at INSTITUT DE SECURITE MARITIME INTERREGIONAL, Abidjan-La Cote D’Ivoire. At the said program, he taught law enforcement officers from the ECOWAS states. He is a former Adjunct Lecturer of Maritime Law and Law of Contract, at the Regional Maritime University, Ghana. George is a former visiting lecturer of Maritime Law, at the Maritime Security and Transnational Organized Crimes Course at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping and Training Centre, Accra, where, George has since 2017, been teaching law enforcement officers from all over Africa on the legal framework of the UNCLOS and the Yaoundé Code.
In 2022, he was a member of the Legal Committee of the International Maritime Organization. He is a member of the Ghana Bar Association and the International Bar Association.
PAULINA OFEIBEA ANSAH (BL, LLB, BA)
Ofeibea is an associate at Kusi- Appiah & Associates. Her experience with working with businesses in Ghana and abroad explains her expertise in project management and people management. Her interest in commercial law, intellectual property law and Technology stems from her exposure with working with virtual organizations, creatives and international consultants.
Ofeibea holds a BSc. in Human Resource Management from Central University. She obtained her LLB from the University of Ghana, Legon and a professional certificate from the Ghana School of Law. She is admitted to practice law in Ghana.
FRED SETH THOMAS MIREKU JNR (BL, LLB, BA)
Mr. Mireku Jnr joined the firm in 2021 as a pupil.
Over the years, he has gained experience in litigation, negotiation, legal research, and drafting of instruments and court processes. His dedication to achieving the best results for our clients is driven by a client-centric approach that prioritizes their needs and objectives.
Mr. Mireku Junior’s areas of interest include contract law, maritime law, administrative law, and intellectual property law.
Mr. Mireku Jnr is a proud product of St. Augustine’s College, Cape-Coast. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with Philosophy from the University of Ghana, Legon. His journey towards a legal career began with a Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of Professional Studies, Accra, followed by a qualifying certificate in law from the Ghana School of Law.
He is a member of the Ghana Bar Association.
IVY AMA ADOMA ACKAH ( BA (ECON & GEOG), LLB, QCL)
Ivy joined the firm in 2022 as a pupil. She interned with Axis Legal as part of her legal training. Over time, she has gained experience in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), litigation, family law and matrimonial causes, legal research, drafting of various legal instruments and court processes contract law, administrative law, immovable property law. She is results driven and dedicated to duty. Ivy is a product of Wesley Girls’ High School, Cape Coast. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences with a major in Economics and Geography from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi. Ivy obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Greenhill Campus. She onward obtained her Qualifying Certificate in Law (QCL) from the Ghana School of Law – Makola.
AWUAH AARON OPOKU (BL, LL.B)
Mr. Awuah has been called as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana. He received his LL.B education from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and proceeded to the Ghana School of Law where he completed his professional training as a lawyer. He is currently pursuing a degree in French at Alliance Française where he seeks to improve upon his French communication skills and become bilingual.
He has worked with the firm over the years and has gained experience in various fields of litigation, alternative dispute resolution, corporate and commercial transaction for both local and international clients.
Mr. Awuah is very passionate about client satisfaction and employs skills, knowledge, efforts and resources available to ensure that at all times, clients receive utmost legal services. Mr. Awuah has keen interests in Contract and Commercial Law, Immovable Property Law, Equity and Succession, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Family Law, Immigration Law, and Human Rights Law.
Mr. Awuah strongly believes in the dispensation of justice and is strongly convicted that, no matter how complex a dispute may seem, there always exists a solution to same.
LORDINA CHRISTABEL OHENE-BOAKYE (BL, LLB, BA)
Ms Ohene-Boakye joined the firm in 2023 as a pupil. Over the period she has gained experience in litigation, family law, negotiation and settlement, drafting of conveyances, agreements and wills, dispute resolution as well as drafting legal opinions.
Her areas of interest include, Business Development and Strategy, Corporate Relations and Communication, Corporate Transactions, Acquisitions and mergers, Settlement Negotiation, International Commercial Law, International Relations & Diplomacy and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Her areas of expertise include Corporate Transactions, Administration and Labour relations coming from her prior experience in administration and human resource management.
She is a self-motivated and result oriented team player who aspires into corporate leadership with attributes for excellence, a commitment to corporate ideals in a work environment that challenges capacity, inspires initiative, drive and innovation.
Ms Ohene-Boakye is a product of Aburi Girls Secondary School and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with English from the University of Ghana, Legon. Her pursuit of a legal career started with a Bachelor of Law Degree from the Mountcrest University and a qualifying certificate in law from the Ghana School of Law. She’s awaiting the award of a Master of Law degree LLM; Corporate and Commercial Law from the University of Ghana Legon. She is a member of the Ghana Bar Association and a member of the Society for Human Resource Management.
RHODA APPIAH (BHM)
Miss Rhoda Appiah joined the Kusi-Appiah and Associates in 2019 .She had the opportunity to serve at Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority at the Estate and Environment Department as an Estate supervisor who assisted in all aspects of the Port’s Estate and Property Management in specific. She also had the opportunity to intern with Best Western Hotel Accra and Royal Nick Hotel and was engaged with hospitality Management. Over the years she has gained experience in Administrative Management, Staff Supervision, Financial Management, Client Relations and Facility Management.
Miss Rhoda Appiah is a product of Methodist Girls Senior High School Mamfe and also holds a Bachelor Degree in Hospitality Management from the University of Cape Coast.
